Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers can now grab a free copy of Star Wars Battlefront 2: Celebration Edition as part of EA Play’s holiday celebrations. This offer is available for a limited time, running until December 20, so fans must act quickly to add the 2017 title to their libraries.
After a long hiatus, EA revived the Star Wars Battlefront series in 2015 with a reboot, followed by a sequel in 2017. While both games received mixed reviews upon release, Star Wars Battlefront 2 now holds a "very positive" rating on Steam, with over 50,000 user reviews. In contrast, Aspyr’s recent Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection has been met with a "mostly negative" rating on Steam, due to its high price, limited server availability at launch, and numerous bugs.
For Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and EA Play members, Star Wars Battlefront 2: Celebration Edition is available for free on the Xbox Store until December 20. Unlike the standard edition, the Celebration Edition includes over 25 Hero appearances, 125 Trooper and Reinforcement appearances, 100 Hero and Trooper emotes and voice lines, and 70 Hero and Trooper victory poses. This isn’t the first time the Celebration Edition has been offered for free—Epic Games gave away the game in 2021—but now Xbox users can enjoy the sequel as well.
This giveaway follows a similar promotion where Xbox Game Pass Ultimate users received Battlefield 1 Revolution for free. However, that offer is no longer available as EA continues to rotate its free holiday game giveaways. EA also teased additional giveaways, including The Sims 4 Home Chef Hustle Stuff Pack, Titanfall 2: Ultimate Edition, 500 PGA Tour Points for EA Sports PGA Tour, and more, from December 17 to December 26.
