  • Jacob, known as 'Africa's most resilient lion,' has survived countless dangers, earning the nickname 'lion with nine lives.' This ten-year-old lion from Uganda's Queen Elizabeth National Park has cheated death numerous times: he survived being gored by a buffalo, the poisoning of his family, and being caught in a poacher's snare, which resulted in the loss of one of his hind legs. Despite these hardships, Jacob recently made headlines for an incredible feat: he swam 1.5 km across the Kazinga Channel, filled with hippos and Nile crocodiles, alongside his brother Tibu. This is the longest recorded swim by lions, showcasing Jacob's extraordinary resilience. The brothers undertook the risky swim in search of mates due to a sex ratio problem in their territory, but were unfortunately chased away by other males on the other side.
